No poker...though have a few free Senior PGA Golf Selections

I haven't played any poker the past few days, as Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are golf days for me and concentration required in that area for Formbet.

So I will be back to the challenge come tomorrow and hopefully get the show on the road for the poker.

Now I offer my services to the formbet website and select golfers for the US and European tour.  Though now I am going to use my own rating model with the Senior tour and will give you a few selections each week on a Wednesday evening, after all the selections have been made for the Formbet website.

This is the first week that I am giving these selections and hopefully will find a few winners along the way.

The Champions Tour has a 'Major' this weekend in the Senior PGA Championship. Which is aired all weekend on sky sports, so something to watch alongside the Formbet Selections for the European Tour and USPGA.  Please if you haven't give them a go for just a fee of £2.50 for the week, and alongside my selections you will have access to Daves fantastic ratings.  www.formbet.co.uk

Now this weekend Champions tour event is at Valhalla.  I have first rated all the Champions tour players based on many areas of play.  Once I rate these players I look at current form and try and narrow players down a bit.

Looking at the course history is a little trickier with the Champions tour, although I have look at a couple past tournaments at the course and the seniors that have played decent in their younger days.

Finding great value this weekend has been a bit tricky, seems the bookies have a good judge on the event.

So who to plump for?

KENNY PERRY 10/1 bet365 - Has placed here on the PGA tour previously, and on the Champions tour has a top 5.  He is still capable to compete with the younger guys and seems to like Valhalla, so from him or the hot champions tour player Tom Lehman 6/1 I would rather plump for Kenny Perry this weekend.

NICK PRICE 11/1 BET365- Nick has been playing very well on the champions tour this year, already 3 top 5 finishes to his name, and in the past has performed decent at the course.  So again worth a win bet only like Kenny Perry.

MARK BROOKS 66/1 BET365 - Mark won here on the pga tour and that should bring back good memories for him,  for a previous winner at the course 66/1 is crying out value for me and worth a each way selection at the price.

MICHAEL ALLEN 16/1 PADDY POWER - Final selection will be with the form player of the season who has not won yet.  He has place 4 times in the top 5 this season and so just this and rated in the top 5 on my ratings, Allen looks a solid enough bet at 16/1.

Now for a big outsider and has a top 5 to his name this year, is ROBERT THOMPSON 200/1 VARIOUS.  Cracking price based on my ratings and looking at the form aspect for which I rate players on.  Ranked 11th on my overall ratings, and for this reason Thompson looks overpriced in the market.

SENIOR PGA:
WIN SELECTIONS
KENNY PENNY 10/1
NICK PRICE 11/1
MICHAEL ALLEN 16/1

EACH WAY SELECTIONS
MARK BROOKS 66/1
ROBERT THOMPSON 200/1

Not alot done but watch golf and enjoy a meal with the folks..

No poker for me today and day off as been busy with the golf today as both my tips in Ian Poulter and Nicolas Colsaerts were bang in there and Poulter came out top at 18/1.

Also had a nice winner on the European tour with Michael Hoey and slightly annoyed I advised this not to be advised....if you get my drift.

Then to make matters worse David Toms was top of my shortlist of players and I didnt pick him nor bet him and find out he was best price of 38.00....that made me feel a bit sick to the stomach as all 3 winners I gave strong mentions too in my forum write up.  Would of been a nice treble!  ARSE!

Still for a couple quid worth having a look....www.formbet.co.uk

Then when I seen Poulter go 2 up and Hoey leading by 2 on the 17th I thought ok everyone we can go for some dinner!  So the one day In laws down from Liverpool along with my folks spent some quality time together along with my dearest one and high octance son.

Good afternoon and evening.

Poker now will restart tomorrow and get back to the gradual increase in the bank and not get greedy nor play  tired.

Oh Dear....7 bucks bits the dust

Well just had a rough ride and all my fault and just shows dont try and go into a game with more than you can afford...

Firstly started with a $2 sit down at 2/5cent no limit rush poker and proceeded too lose the lot...cards didn't fall my way at all and some silly chasing and the 2 bucks vanished.

Then I thought would sit down with 5 bucks in a 25/50cent limit rush poker game, and again some silly decision making, and well I should of quit when at $7.20..but I didnt and the story was didn't have a happy ending, I slowly ended up losing the lot!

Lesson learnt do not play above my means on this adventure.

So 7 bucks lost and the bank now stands at $13.36.

If you said to me I would have this amount on Saturday when I started I would of been more than happy...but I'm not pleased with my play in the past hour and need to have a break and get my head sorted out and get back to solid poker and not chase the flushes and straights.

20 bucks...another milestone

Happy with the 20 bucks milestone...

Playing 2/5 cent rush poker and so far so good, found my niche I think with this rush poker.

Below is the milestone hand that broke the 20 buck barrier....onward and upward

Errr...sorehead and more profit

Well did I mention I went to bed after that quad 5 hand?

I looked in the fridge and seen another can of cider staring me in the face...my loving partner was sound a sleep and she wouldn't miss it anyhow?!?! So cracked it open and thought one more blast at the tables...so that is what I did, turned the TV off from the golf and popped open a table of 2/5 cent Rush Poker.  Did I tell you how much I like rush poker?

The decision to play slightly tipsy paid off, and 75% of the time these types of decisions don't normally pay off and you wake up in the morning with a chunk of change missing!  Though I don't care this time as it helped build the balance up and set me up nice...and things are going swimmingly very well!

I'm just trying to recap my hands I played until nearly 3am....as with a number of beer cans and cider cans in the bin, my memory is a little hazy and the head is slightly sore.  Well it was Friday after all...who can blame me for letting my hair down.

5555....time for bed and goodnight everyone

I was really wondering where the next hand was coming from...

It has been a long ole night, a few beers and a current can of cider along the way.. what was I saying taking advantage of the merry players?!?!

Anyhow I had at one stage got myself op on a $5sit down 25/50 cent limit game of holdem up a few bucks and sitting pretty and I think thats when the devils water kicked in and well it dwiddle down to a couple bucks on the table and the mind started to get desperate!

Anyhow a little pair of fives came along and oh boy was it fun....

I really love RUSH POKER..high pot won! 10 bucks Bank!

I was brave and thought to myself have a blast at limit 25/50 cent limit rush poker...

Now I wont lie, my best poker is with limit poker, and this is where my experience lies over the years I've played...

Though first hand JJ and someone calling me down to the river with AK with nothing helps the cause of the challenge.

Here is the hand (as I'm saving the hands now)....

Milestone...

Sit n Go.......bored to tears and a loss

I just lost a buck and 10 cents playing a sit n go...

Now this bugger went on for so damn long I got to the point I couldn't be arsed!   Ok I lost a buck and a bit for a silly all in...the big blinds had got to 600 and still there were 6 players!  OK I went a bit crazy but over a hour of play for a 1st prize of $4.50 I really couldn't be bothered to play any further.

I did get a nice pot earlier again on rush poker to get myself over the 8 buck bank, but with a 70cent loss in HILO Omaha pot limit and the  buck sit  n go tournament the confidence was slightly dented, only due to a bored to tears dollar sit n go...it felt like a $100 sit n go....get a life!

Currently I stand on $6.62 bankroll

Nice start to the evening! Gotta love the Kings!

Sweet pot just won playing 2/5cent rush poker, sat down with 2 bucks and got myself up to $2.72 then got a bit too committed with Jacks and went down to $1.62, then a decent bluff to get back up to $2.12, then KK came along.

3 way action...on a 9 seater rush poker table is rare.

Raise came early, 3rd postition I think it was, I then re-raised from the button with my kings and big blind called and 3rd seat called my raise.

So 3 way action on the flop and outcame rag-Q-rag....

Perfect for me in a way...I believe it went bet raise fold re-raise all in and i called the all in move...and outcome came two more rags, 3rd seat held AQ v my KK.

So a nice pot scooped to boost the bankroll!

Up to $6.12 and happy with that starting day 3 of the adventure!

Weekend starts now!!!

Last night was a pretty decent evening and I proceeded to fall asleep on the sofa with netbook on lap....guess that is the time to call in quit!  Woke up to bright sunshine through the french windows and thinking bloody hell what happened!  6am and I slept like a log on the sofa, though must of at some point moved the netbook onto floor or it fell nicely closed!!

Now enough of my sleeping patterns...

Produced decent enough profit on day 2 and was a slow grind last night and this is going to be a hard slog at times, and at times I was thinking what is the point...but that is the point struggle through the pain of the penny games and hopefully advance to the bigger games...

So anyhow bankroll now up to $3.55...plenty of action this weekend, and hopefully catch some players who have had a few too many later on in the evenings.  These are the players I hope to fund the balance...they could also harm the balance!

DAY 2:
Start Bank:  $1.00
Current Bank:  $3.55

Rush to the head....rush poker

What a genius idea this rush poker is from Full Tilt Poker....

Those who may not know, you switch to a new table and hand instantly as you fold your cards and you can even fold your rag hands before everyone plays and move on - the hours of boredom sitting trying to find tells on other players are out the door.

The game will be the one for me once the bank is bigger, I had a little go on 2/5cent game with $2 sit down amount and it was an eye opener.  Enjoyed it very much and will be heading for a bit more of where that came from once I can sit comfortable with 2 bucks.

Currently I'm sticking with the buck minimum stake and that is the pot limit and no limit games of 1/2 cents!

Though I highly advise if you haven't had a blast of rush poker give it a go, superb format for online poker!

So how did my 2 bucks get on, well not so bad won a nice pot with AJsuited as AJ landed on the flop.  52cents hand won...happy with that and 20cents profit so walked away and going to head to the penny games.

Up to $3.18 now after that little boost.

Time for bed...profit made!

After that losing buck on the limit 5/10cent game...got some of it back playing elsewhere on a 5/10cent limit table and a pot limit penny game....so in total a profit on day one of $1.98...

Starting bank $1.00
Current bank $2.98
Day 1 profit $1.98

Good times

Wednesday 18 May 2011

Bad Beat already....we all have our stories what's yours?

Dealer: Hand #30574095613
Dealer: Flipperflop shows two pair, Queens and Twos
Dealer: Kurte Amel shows two pair, Queens and Eights
Dealer: Kurte Amel wins the pot ($1.19) with two pair, Queens and Eights
System: A $6+$0.40 Satellite to MiniFTOPS #44 will be starting in 7 minutes. At least 3 seats will be awarded!

This above hand was a bit of a ouch hand for me I was hold AQ and playing limit poker 5/10cent game, raised and was called, Q22 on flop bet in and was raised and reraised...rag on turn and then 8 bets continued and I was beaten by the crappy 8 on the river....no matter what amounts you play those beats still hurt.

Was the slippery slide on that table and proceeded to lose a buck, so $2.25 in the bank.  A bit of a nightmare table....and there is me thinking play limit as less chance of losing the buck...how I was so wrong.

Currently on another small limit game and not finding a lot there either....think will go back to the penny no limit games!

Though as I speak AA dealt and 62 cents won...then the crappy beat with AKsuited against Q8 (whats with Q8) and a loss of 20cents, calling a 20cent all in raise raise preflop.  Funny this small stakes tables...and will have to deal with crap that is played...still solid poker solid poker solid poker mindset, don't get involved in silly plays!!

Day 1....table action..nice pot won and one that got away!

Dealer: tbb59 shows two pair, Aces and Jacks
Dealer: Flipperflop shows a full house, Sixes full of Aces
Dealer: Flipperflop wins the pot ($3.31) with a full house, Sixes full of Aces

My first decent win early doors and a nice $3.31 win with a full house....

The one that got away ....raised to 10cents 1st to play, raised and then was reraised all in....$2.10 to call, a little rich at this stage of the journey, Q rag 10, 10, J on the board....both players held AK, little gutted.

Still only a short game and profit of $2.25 on a 1/2cent game.  The journey begins well!

What to do with a buck!

I came across a old poker account at Full Tilt poker and found I have $1.00 in it!

Now how far can I take this buck??

Chris Ferguson turned nothing into $10k, now I'm no Chris Ferguson to start with!

I will be happy to get to 10 bucks to start with thats for sure!  To start with I am going to play the 1/2cent no limit tables and well take my chances and hopefully build on this little buck I have in the account.

I hope to play solid poker, I have played for quite a few years, but haven't really played too much the past couple years, due to my betting on the gg's and golf.  This challenge is to and get me into a good bankroll management.

How you may say with a buck....well simples, if I double up I leave the table, even though Chris Ferguson advises on quitting when you hit 10% of your bank while on the table.  The rules set out by Ferguson, I will start to follow once hit around the 10 buck stage.

It will be a long journey, and if I am around this time next week, then for me that will be a success!
